Dried mango ranking 2026
Dried mango is one of those snacks where the difference between a product worth considering and one worth leaving on the shelf is evident just by reading the label.
For some, it is a matter of taste, but when evaluating them, we focused on: purity of ingredients, the absence of preservatives and added sugar, documented origin, and reliable information on the packaging. In this ranking, we reviewed seven products available in Polish online stores and assessed them using a uniform scoring system. No marketing jargon — just data from product pages.
Evaluation methodology
We assessed each product in five categories, for a total of 100 points.
- Ingredients and purity (40 pts) is the highest-weighted category — and rightly so. We checked three things: the presence of sulfites (E220–E224), the presence of added sugar, and the presence of vegetable oil. Each of these in the ingredients list results in a loss of points. Sulfur dioxide also triggers a disqualification rule and automatically moves the product to the end of the ranking, regardless of all other scores.
- Raw material quality (25 pts) was assessed based on the presence of an organic certificate, the indication of the fruit's country of origin, and transparency regarding the drying method. In the case of dried mango, this information is rare — most manufacturers omit it by saying nothing. A lack of data meant 0 points, not a skipped sub-criterion.
- Nutritional values (15 pts) checked fiber content (threshold of 5g/100g) and natural sugar levels (threshold of 60g/100g). If the manufacturer did not provide a nutritional table on the product page — we awarded 0 points. Products exceeding the 60g sugar threshold do not receive points for this sub-criterion, even if the sugars are entirely natural.
- Price relative to ingredient quality (10 pts) assessed whether the price is justified by what is actually in the package. A product without a certificate at a premium price does not receive points here.
- Packaging (10 pts) concerned resealable closure (zip or clip), completeness of the label, and protection against moisture and light.
In the event of a points tie, the cheaper product wins — calculated by price per 100g.
Dried Mango Ranking
🥇 1st place — Bio Planet Organic Dried Mango 400g
76 / 100 pts
Bio Planet is the only product in this ranking that simultaneously provides an organic certificate with the certification body number (PL-EKO-07), the country of origin of the raw material (Burkina Faso), and a full table of nutritional values. The ingredients list is single-item — exclusively organic mango without any additives. Fiber at 8.6g/100g meets the adopted threshold with a clear margin.
One factual caveat: natural sugars in this product are 72g/100g, which exceeds the 60g threshold adopted in the methodology — in this category, Bio Planet loses 7 points. It is worth knowing this if you monitor sugar intake. The second caveat concerns the packaging: the standard 400g package does not have a resealable closure — after opening, the product must be repackaged or consumed quickly. The price of ~PLN 6.50/100g is higher than most products without a certificate, but in the context of a documented supply chain and verifiable organic status — it is justified.
🥈 2nd place — Planteon Sugar-Free Dried Mango 1kg
72 / 100 pts
Planteon wins three categories at once: the best price-to-ingredients ratio (~PLN 3.00/100g when purchasing 1kg), the highest fiber content in the entire ranking (10.4g/100g), and the lowest natural sugars (49.4g/100g). This last result is exceptional — products with sugars below 50g/100g are rare in this category. The full table of nutritional values is available on the manufacturer's website.
Its weakness is the complete anonymity of the raw material — no certificate, no stated country of origin, no information about the drying method. The 1kg package has a zip closure, but the label is incomplete. This is a product for the pragmatist, not for the organic purist.
🥉 3rd place — HiFOOD Organic Dried Mango 500g
69 / 100 pts
HiFOOD is a Polish brand (manufacturer from Kolbuszowa) declaring the product as 100% organic, unsulfured, and sugar-free. The stand-up pouch with a zip closure is convenient and airtight. An organic certificate is declared — although the lack of a certification body number on the manufacturer's website makes independent verification difficult.
There are two weaknesses. First: the price of ~PLN 11.30/100g (PLN 56.50 for 500g) makes it by far the most expensive product in the ranking. The country of origin of the raw material is provided only on the physical packaging label, not on the product page. Second: the only available data on nutritional values indicates fiber at 2g/100g, clearly below the 5g threshold adopted in the methodology.
4th place — Smakosz Dried Mango Slices 100g
67 / 100 pts
Smakosz is a product that deserves a much higher place in terms of ingredient purity and nutritional values: 100% mango, no sugar, no sulfur, fiber 9.2g/100g — the third result in the ranking, sugars at 60g/100g fit within the threshold. It is dragged down by a complete lack of information about the raw material: no certificate, no country, no mention of the drying method. The 100g package does not have a zip closure, and the label is incomplete.
The price of ~PLN 5.40/100g is attractive, and the small size (100g) allows you to test the category without a large financial commitment.
5th place — Słodkie Zdrowie Sugar-Free Dried Mango 500g
62 / 100 pts
The product has a clean ingredients list (100% mango, no sulfur, no sugar, no oil) and — contrary to what can be found in some comparisons — a full table of nutritional values on the manufacturer's website. Fiber is 10.4g/100g, sugars 49.4g/100g — results identical to Planteon, indicating the same raw material. This is a solid foundation.
The weaknesses are the lack of an organic certificate and the variable country of origin of the raw material, depending on the batch (Burkina Faso, Thailand, Vietnam) — information encoded in the batch number, not stated explicitly on the label. The buyer does not know which source a specific package comes from. The price of ~PLN 5.78/100g is higher than Planteon and Smakosz without a certificate, hence 0 points for the price-to-quality ratio.
6th place — Naturalnie Zdrowe Dried Mango Large Pieces 500g
47 / 100 pts
The ingredients list is clean — unsulfured, no sugar, no oil. The manufacturer's website blocks automatic data scraping, which prevented verification of the nutritional values table for this specific product from an independent source — 0 points were awarded in accordance with the methodology. No organic certificate, the country of origin of the raw material is not stated directly. The price of ~PLN 7.00/100g is the highest among conventional products, without any justification for the quality.
How to read the label before buying
A good choice starts with a few checks that are not always obvious.
- Ingredients in order: ingredients are listed from most to least abundant. If mango is first — that is a good sign. If sugar or glucose appears right after mango — the product is sweetened, even if the label on the front says otherwise.
- Look for E220 and related: sulfur dioxide (E220) and sulfites (E221–E224) are a signal that the product has been preserved and bleached. Their presence must be stated on the label. The absence of these symbols in the ingredients list is concrete information, not a coincidence. Naturally dried mango without sulfur has an orange-brown color, often with dark spots — a bright, uniform yellow color almost always means sulfiting.
- Verify the country of origin: mango is grown primarily in Burkina Faso, India, Thailand, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The country of origin of the raw material matters for the flavor profile and cultivation standards. A product with a stated country and organic certificate provides more assurance than a "pesticide-free" declaration without confirmation.
- Check the drying method: mango dried in the sun or at low temperatures retains its nutritional values better. In practice, most manufacturers on the Polish market do not provide this information — its presence on the label is a sign of transparency.
What to expect from nutritional values
Natural sugars in dried mango are the result of dehydration, not sweetening — they usually range between 49 and 72g/100g depending on the variety and batch of raw material. Products with sugars below 55g/100g (like Planteon and Słodkie Zdrowie Sugar-Free with a result of 49.4g) are rare. Bio Planet, despite its organic certificate, reaches 72g here — above the 60g threshold adopted in the methodology.
Fiber in good dried mango should be at least 5g/100g. In this ranking, four products exceed this threshold: Planteon and Słodkie Zdrowie Sugar-Free at 10.4g, Smakosz at 9.2g, Bio Planet at 8.6g. The only exception is HiFOOD with a result of 2g — clearly below expectations at this price.
Mango is a natural source of beta-carotene, manganese, and folate. Drying partially reduces the vitamin C content, but most of the remaining active ingredients are preserved.
How to store dried mango
After opening the package, it is best to store dried mango in an airtight container or zip bag, away from moisture and light. At room temperature, an unsulfured product retains its freshness for 2–4 weeks after opening; unopened — for several months according to the expiration date. In the refrigerator, the shelf life can be extended, but the mango may harden — it is worth taking it out a few minutes before consumption.
Summary
The most important conclusion from this review: the dried mango market in Poland is well supplied with products with a clean ingredients list, but dramatically poor in reliable information about the raw material. Among the seven products assessed, only one — Bio Planet — simultaneously provided an organic certificate with a certification body number and the country of origin of the raw material. This is not a high bar.
For the buyer, the practical conclusion is simple: first check whether E220 is in the ingredients list. If it is not, and the ingredients are exclusively mango — you are in a good position. Bio Planet is the choice when you care about documented organic status — but know that natural sugars here are 72g/100g. Planteon is the choice when nutritional values and price are the priority: lowest sugars, highest fiber, lowest price. Słodkie Zdrowie Sugar-Free is a solid alternative with an identical nutritional profile to Planteon, but in a smaller size and slightly higher price. Smakosz is the cheapest option with good nutritional values, if you do not care about a certificate and prefer small packages.
The market is maturing — more and more brands declare "unsulfured" and "sugar-free", but the documentation of these declarations is still lacking. The tightening EU requirements for organic food labeling should gradually change this.
